by: Ebony Monique I often tell my students and clients of my time in elementary school when teachers would have us choose what we wanted to be when we grow up. I can remember looking at the list and the first thing I noticed was that it was divided into a girl side and a boy side. Sadly, this doesn't date back too many years ago. The next thing I noticed on either side is that it only gave about 7-10 career choices. Throughout my youth, even into high school, I never really had contact with very many professions outside of knowing those who worked in primary or secondary education, a couple people in healthcare, and a few in "blue collar" type professions. What I am saying is, my thoughts towards possible career choices for myself was very limited. ArchivesNo Archives Categories |
